Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an easy control of lightness of color tone by varying the orientation of pigments contained in a paint by controlling the applied static voltage so as to adjust the tone of coated color. CONSTITUTION:The voltage from a constant voltage transformer 3 is controlled to a required voltage by a power controller 4 and a required static voltage is applied to a spray gun 1 by way of a high voltage generator 2. In case of coating a metallic paint containing aluminum pigments on an automobile body as a top coat, e.g., it is easily possible to control the lightness of color tone of the body, because the angle of aluminum pigments in the top coat film with the surface to be coated varies with the applied static voltage which is controlled with the power controller 4. Thus the control of color tone becomes possible, resulting in easy achievement of the tolerance objective on the lightness.
