Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect electrostatic painting at a voltage in a range of high levels by forming with an insulating material jointing portions of an on-off valve, through which a coating material is supplied, and of an electrostatic painting unit as well as a coating material supplying hose, whereby a bridge phenomenon can be prevented from occurring.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic coating material supplied to an electrostatic painting unit 9 is atomized at pattern air nozzles 9b so as to be electrostatically applied to an objective material. A jointing portion 9c at the outer side of the painting unit 9, a jointing 10a, which is provided in opposition to the jointing portion 9c, of an on- off valve 10, and a coating material supplying hose 11 by which the jointing portions 10a, 9c are connected to each other are all made of an insulating material, such as a synthetic resin. The jointing portion 10a is connected to the grounded valve 10, which is connected to a paint tank via a paint pump. In such a structure, a high voltage is applied 9a to the coating material in the hose 11 so as to electrostatically deposit the coating material on the objective material.
