Abstract

PURPOSE:To optionally control a directional angle and to provide a high resolution by applying chamferring to the peripheral ridge of an acoustic matching layer so as to form a slope and adjusting the size of the slope. CONSTITUTION:A smaller diameter piezoelectric ceramic disk or ring 2 having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the layer 1 is adhered to the lower face of the acoustic matching layer disk 1 in a transducer. The peripheral ridge chamferred is formed to the peripheral ridge of the acoustic matching layer 1 in a tapered slope 7. The directional angle is varied with the size of the slope 7. In adjusting the size of the slope, the directional angle is controlled optionally regardless of high resolution. Since the peripheral ridge of the acoustic matching layer 1 is formed as a slope, cracking or chipping due to dropping or the like is prevented.
