Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct trilemma by connecting in series to each other two diodes that are connected with reverse polarity in parallel to a set of coil parts for generating a pin cushion magnetic field and for generating a barrel magnetic field in a vertical deflection coil. CONSTITUTION:Diodes 32, 33 are in 'off' condition until the vertical deflection voltage reaches a determined value, so that only vertically inside saddle coils 28, 28 are operated, with vertically outside saddle oils 29, 29 being not operated, to increase the barrel distortion of the vertical deflection magnetic field. Then, the diodes 32, 33 are turned to 'on' condition when the vertical deflection voltage exceeds the determined value, and the barrel distortion of the vertical deflection magnetic field is reduced. Hence, it is possible to increase the barrel distortion of the vertical deflection magnetic field during the 'off' period of the diodes 32, 33 and to reduce during the 'on' period. Thus, reversal trilemma can be effectively removed by synchronizing the 'off' period of the diodes 32, 33 with the period during which an electron beam is scanning over a determined screen surface area.
