Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a device and to improve the earthquake resis tance thereof by using liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductive magnet coils. CONSTITUTION:The liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductive coils are used for all of a troidal coil 5, poloidal coil 6, coil 7, diverter coil 8, etc. The need for a heat shield is thereby eliminated. A cryostat is installed near a reactor body and the body including the coils can be installed directly on a stand. The size of the device is thus reduced and the earthquake resistance thereof is improved.
