Abstract

PURPOSE:To omit a descaling stage and to reduce a cost by performing oil- lubricated drawing to steel stock having an oxidized scale layer on the surface without removing the oxidized scale layer. CONSTITUTION:In the cold oil-lubricated drawing of wire rod, bar or pipe stock made of steel or alloy steel, the scale remaining on the surface of the stock, and in the beginning of a drawing process, suitable roughness to the surface of a scale layer is given and the function as oil pits to oil-lubricant is displayed and ample oil-lubricant between the stock and drawing tools is held. In the drawing time, cracks occur on the scale, oil-lubricant is infiltrated into the cracks and after the scale is broken into fragments, the lubricant in which powder of the scale and oil-lubricant are mixed interposes between the steel stock and the drawing tools to effectively prevent seizure. As a result, stable and smooth drawing operation can be guaranteed even in the state of scale being stuck thereon.
