Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily obtain the titled resin having excellent curability, water resistance, etc., at a low cost, by reacting an ethylenically unsaturated monohydroxy compound with a diisocyanate, washing the resultant adduct with a specific solvent and reacting a specific compound therewith. CONSTITUTION:(A) 1mol. ethylenically unsaturated double bond-containing monohydroxy compound [e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate] is reacted with (B) >=0.5mol. diisocyanate compound to provide a mixture consisting of an adduct mixture of the components (A) with (B) and the unreacted component (B). The obtained mixture is subsequently washed with a solvent capable of dissolving the component (B) without dissolving the above-mentioned adduct mixture to remove the component (B). The resultant adduct mixture of the components (A) with (B) is then reacted with (C) a compound (e.g. glycerol) having >=3 hydroxyl groups to afford the aimed resin.
