The AC side terminals 20, 21, 22 of the rectifier 19 are connected to the external connecting terminals 16, 17, 18 of a three-phase star excitation feeding winding 36. Correspondingly a rotor winding 28 and a rotary rectifier 37 are also connected as shown in figure. At the time of starting, when a capacitor is connected to a space between the wires of terminals 10, 11, 12, then due to residual magnetism, an electromotive force is generated between the terminals U, V, W, and is generated on an excitation feeding winding 26 and is fed to the armature winding 1 via the rectifier 19. The rotor winding 28 is worked as served also as a rotor exciting winding and a rotor field winding.
