Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable reliable switching between regenerative braking and powering without requiring a rotation detector and the like, by carrying out switching based on a preset ON time of a regenerative chopper. CONSTITUTION:Under a forward powering mode, field control FETs 9, 12 are controlled and an armature chopper FET 4 is also controlled. Upon switching to rearward powering under this condition, neutral switching condition is detected and a main contacted 2 is opened. Upon finish of switching, the armature chopper FET 4 is turned ON to supply regenerative current. Switching from regenerative braking to powering is carried out when ON time of chopper reaches to a setting time. Upon switching to powering, field control FETs 10, 11 are controlled. Consequently, possibility of regenerative braking can be judged without requiring a rotation detector.
