Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of a printing process, by storing vertical line printing position data in subordination to a designated page format and horizontal line printing position data on a stopping position of a printing part carrier designated by a means for designating horizontal line printing positions, and alternately controlling printing of a plurality of horizontal line and vertical line characters making reference to the two kinds of data. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 functions also as a printing-controlling means, and performs general control based on a control program stored in a ROM 2. A RAM 3 stores inputted text data, also stores preset positions of a page format set through a keyboard 4 as vertical line printing position data, and stores a stopping position for a carrier for a printer 5 as horizontal line printing position data. The keyboard 4 is used also as a means for designating a horizontal line printing position data, and is used to input the horizontal printing position data when a horizontal line printing position input mode is set. The CPU 1 alternately controls printing of vertical line and horizontal line characters while referencing the vertical line printing position data and the horizontal line printing position data stored in the RAM 3, whereby a frame is automatically printed efficiently.
