Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cation adsorbent having high mechanical strength, high resistance to expansion and contraction, etc., by coating the surface of a base body of a particulate matter with a copolymer of an acrylic acid type vinyl monomer and a crosslinking divinyl monomer. CONSTITUTION:A liquid mixture consisting of an acrylic acid type vinyl monomer, a crossling divinyl monomer, a polymn. initiator, and a low boiling org. solvent is impregnated into a base body of a particulate matter. A cation adsorbent produced by coating the surface of said base body with a copolymer of said acrylic vinyl monomer with said crosslinking divinyl monomer is produced by copolymerizing both monomers sticking to the surface of the base body after removing the org. solvent by evaporation in the vapor phase. Preferred amt. of the acrylic vinyl monomer to be used is <=20pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the particulate matter. The obtd. cation adsorbent has high mechanical strength and high resistance to expansion and contraction.
