Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable consecutive recording to a magnetic tape not fully recorded in a simple operation by detecting a boundary part between a recording part and a non-recording part of a control signal on the magnetic tape with an output of a detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When a retrieval key 11 is pressed under the state of a control head 6 being situated on the recording part of the control signal, a retrieval command signal (f) is given to a system control circuit 5 by a key input processing circuit 10. Then, when a reproducing mode is effective to find the control signal, then it is changed to a reproducing fast forwarding mode. Afterward, when the control signal does not exist, the magnetic tape 1 is reversely transferred by a drawing-in portion of tracking phase synchronization for the sake of the consecutive recording. Under such circumstances, when a command to start recording is inputted, the reverse transferred portion is reproduced, and then after drawing the tracking phase synchronization in, the recording is started.
