Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently remove a coating metal from the metal oxide base material by feeding a gaseous chlorine compd. such as HCl or COCl2 under heating to volatilize and remove the coating metal as chloride. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous chlorine compd. such as HCl, COCl2, CCl4, SOCl2 or S2Cl2 is prepd. A material obtd. by coating the metal oxide base material with a metal is heated to 100-1,200 deg.C. The gaseous chlorine compd. is fed to the heated material to volatilize and remove the coating metal as chloride.
