Abstract

PURPOSE:To uniformize the mechanical properties of a steel wire after the patenting treatment by measuring the temps. of a fluidized material bed and adjusting the same with the differences from reference temps. at the time of executing the patenting treatment of the steel wire rod in the fluidized material bed. CONSTITUTION:Fine particles 3 of alumina, zircon sand, etc. are supplied from a hopper 2 into a fluidized bed furnace 1 and a fluidizing gas is blown from the lower part by a supply pipe 5. The flow of the gas is regulated by a flow straightening plate 7 having many small holes and is blown upward to form the fluidized material bed 8 consisting of fine powder. While the material 9 to be treated such as steel wire is passed in the fluidized material bed 8 heated to a specific temp., the material is subjected continuously to patenting treatment. The reference temps. of the fluidized material bed on the flow straightening plate 7 are measured by reference thermocouples 10, 11 and the temp. drop of the upper part of the fluid material beds which takes place when the steel wire 9 carries over the fluidized material is measured by comparison thermocouples 12-15. These individual temp. differences are processed by a controller 16 and a driving device 17 is thereby controlled to adequately replenish the particles 3 in the hopper, by which the patenting treatment of the steel wire 9 by the fluidized material bed 8 is uniformized.
