Abstract

PURPOSE:To safely, surely and smoothly remove a channel box by providing detaining pawls which can be engaged with the rear face of clips at the top end of the channel box in such a manner that said pawls can be freely opened and closed by a fluid pressure type opening/closing operation mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The detaining pawls 5 which can be engaged with the rear face of the opposed clips C of the channel box B around a fuel assembly are mounted freely openably and closely to the lower part of a jig body 1 for dismounting which is mounted to a crane, etc. The pawls 5 can be opened and closed by the fluid pressure type opening/closing operation mechanism 8. A veil cap body 14 provided with a pair of skirt-shaped veil guides 17 having the bottom end edges seatable to the top end in the corner part of the channel box B is provided freely vertically movably to the lower part of the jig body 1. The pawls 5 are inserted into the channel box B when the bottom end edges of the veil guides 17 of the jig body 1 are seated to the prescribed position at the top end of the channel box B and the body is further lowered. Only the channel box B is hoisted from the fuel assembly when the jig body 1 is pulled up after the pawls 5 are opened and are engaged with the rear face of the clips.
