Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent hole forming at welds due to fusion and gasification of an electron emitting substance by melting and fixing cathode sleeve to a cup in position not contacting a cathode body. CONSTITUTION:A cathode body 1 is formed by sintering a body made from tungsten powder pressed molded into convex shape in reductive atmosphere and impregnating electron emitting substance such as barium, calcium, and alminate, and a cup 2 is installed with an opening 2b at the bottom 2a of the cup 2 so that a columnar boss 1a of the convex cathode body 1 can be inserted. Further a cathode sleeve 3 is processed to a method capable of inserting from under the cup 2 and a leg 3a is arranged in contact with the other end 1b of the cathode body 1 for the purpose of supporting and shielding the cathode body 1. The cathode body 1, cup 2, and cathode sleeve 3 are assembled as shown in the attached illustration, and laser beam is irradiated to the side walls 2c, 3b of the cup 2 and cathode sleeve 3 in the position 4 not contacting the cathode body 1, to melt and fix them.
