Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve ease of handling of a titled thruster suited for the orbit control of an artificial satellite by moving a shape memory alloy member in the axial direction in linked motion with the discharge action of a discharge section thereby making it possible to automatically set the gap between inner and outer rings of an insulation member to an optimum dimension. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic pole 10 consisting of an annular magnetic pole part 10a and a center magnetic pole part 10b and an acceleration part 12 consisting of an annular acceleration electrode 11 plated to face said magnet pole 10 are housed in a housing (not shown). The acceleration part 12 is provided on its discharge part side with a neutralizer 13 while on its upstream side with a discharge part 14 to which a thrust agent is supplied. The discharge part 14 is constituted with an anode 15 and a cathode 16 with an insulation member 17 constituted with an outer ring 18 and an inner ring 19 interposed between said poles 15, 16. The outer ring 18 of the insulation member 17 is installed freely movably in the directions of the arrows A, B between both poles 15, 16 via a shape memory alloy member 20 with freely expandable memory and a shape memory alloy 21 with freely shrinkable memory.
