Abstract

PURPOSE:To make installation of an expensive excess water passage unnecessary in a hydropower plant equipped with a multiplicity of water turbines having pressure controllers by controlling a specifically selected pressure controller to be opened to discharge excess water according to the water level in an upper dam. CONSTITUTION:In a hydroelectric plant, water collected from a river or the like to an upper dam 3 is made to flow down through each water pressure iron pipe 4 and is introduced to each water turbine 5 via a water turbine inlet valve 6 to rotate the runner 6 of the water turbine 5 and to drive a generator. Each water turbine 5 is provided with a pressure controller 9 for restricting the water pressure rise in a water pressure iron pipe 4 at the time of sudden closure of a guide vane for load control. In this case, an upper dam water level detection device 10 and an inlet valve opening detection device 11 are provided. According to the water level of the upper dam 3, the opening degree of the pressure controller 9 is calculated with a pressure controller opening degree calculator 12, an opening command signal is sent to a pressure controller selection controller 13, and the pressure controller 9 to be used on the water turbine 5 in operation is selected out of the pressure controllers 9 based on a use order data for the pressure controller.
