Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite fiber usable in the field to which high light-fastness is required, by coating a polyester component free from inorganic fine particles with a polyester component containing inorganic fine particles coated with an Mn compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is a composite fiber produced by coating (A) a polyester component essentially free from inorganic fine particles with (B) a polyester component containing inorganic fine particles (preferably titanium dioxide) having an average particle diameter of <=0.1mum, preferably 0.01-0.05mum and coated with a manganese compound (e.g. manganese borate). The polyester is preferably polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate or a polyester composed mainly of the above terephthalate. Preferably, the content of the inorganic fine particles in the component B is 0.05-10wt.% and the weight ratio of B/A is 95/5-30/70.
