Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the connection with a terminal equipment having an interface mechanism based upon a different MAC system by constituting the titled device so that a packet frame is mutually transmitted/received between a network (LAN) based upon a specific MAC system and said terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:When a packet frame constituted of setting up the terminal address of a terminal equipment 4b in a destination address field is transmitted from a terminal equipment 4a, a bridge 3a converts the packet frame into a CSMA/CD system packet frame by a MAC conversion part 11 and transmits the converted frame to the LAN 2. When a packet frame having the terminal address of a connecting terminal equipment 4b in its destination address field is received from the LAN 2, a bridge 3b transfers the packet frame to a C/T MAC conversion part 12, which converts the packet frame into a token ring system packet frame and transmits the converted packet frame to the terminal equipment 4b. Consequently, data can be mutually transferred between both the terminal equipments 4a, 4b through the network based upon a different MAC system.
