Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a separate colour filter to be unnecessary and to enable RGB signals to be produced at the same position on a manuscript note, by laminating a plurality of photodiodes of which the respective wavelength dependencys of both light sensitivity and light transmittance are different from each other. CONSTITUTION:Each of the photodiode sections 7, 9 and 11 of a colour image sensor has a p-i-n structure, respectively. In the photodiode sections 7, 9 and 11, the respective wavelength dependencys of light sensitivity are different each other, and the respective wavelength dependencys of light transmittance are also different each other. As a result, each of the photodiode sections produces the output corresponding to the effective sensitivity thereof. That is, the photodiode sections 7, 9 and 11 can produce the outputs corresponding to the three primary colours of blue, green and red, respectively.
