Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a pump-oxygenator further reduced in a blood filling amount to a large extent as compared with a conventional pump-oxygenator having a heat exchanger connected thereto, by coaxially arranging a heat exchange part, a gas exchange part and a blood storage part to unify all of them and using a hollow yarn membrane in the gas exchange part to allow blood to flow to the outside of hollow yarns. CONSTITUTION:Blood is introduced from a blood introducing part 1 from a vein and blood collected from an operation field is introduced from a blood introducing port 3. Both of them together flow to the space 20 formed by the pleats of the outer periphery of a heat exchange part and, during this time, the heat exchange with a heat exchange medium is performed through a heat transfer material 7. Next, blood enters a hollow yarn layer and flows through the gaps between hollow yarns 11 to perform the gas exchange with the oxygen- containing gas flowing through the hollow yarns. The oxygenated blood is temporarily stored in a blood storage part 8 to be led out from a blood lead-out port 10.
