PURPOSE:To improve the work efficiency and reduce the cost by arranging acid-resistant tightening plates on outer sides of an electrode group in the lamination direction, tightening them with bands, melting part of a saddle arranged at the bottom, and welding it to the tightening plates to fix the electrode group to a battery jar. CONSTITUTION:Tightening plates 4 with adequate thickness are arranged on both outsides of an electrode group, which is tightened by bands 5. The tightening plates 4 have cut-grooves matching with a saddle 7. The saddle to be mounted on the bottom of a battery jar is taken out in advance to the outside of the battery jar, then it is arranged below the electrode group, part 8 of the saddle protruded from the electrode group is melted by a hot plate 9, the molten object is pressed to the tightening plates 4, and the tightening plates and the saddle are welded. The occurrence of the breakage of electrode group lugs and the defective airtightness of electrode poles or the like caused by the movement of the electrode group can be prevented.
