Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the apparatus by cooling a gas of a substance having a lower b.p. than that of LN2 as a gas for pressurization to a temperature of a level same as that of a decompressed saturated liq. before use. CONSTITUTION: When an LN2 vessel 16 is evacuated by a large-capacity vacuum pump, the pressure of LN2 in the vessel to provide a decompressed saturated LN2 along a saturated vapor pressure line. He gas fed through a pressirizing gas feed pipe 20 passes through heat exchangers 23, 24 which cools it down to the same temp. level as that of the decompressed saturated LN2 , and then enters the vessel 16 to pressure the decompressed saturated LN2 . But the He gas is not liquefied because of the substance having a lower b.p. than that of LN2 and pressures the decompressed saturated LN2 thereby producing a supercooled LN2 . This simplifies the apparatus and produces a supercooled LN2 , without uselessly evaporating and consuming LN2 .
