Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin crosslinkable by irradiation to form tough coating film, by ring opening polymerization of a lactone using a specific dihydroxyl compound as the initiator followed by reaction of a polyisocyanate compound. CONSTITUTION:Using a dihydroxyl compound of formula I (R1, R2 and R4 are each alkylene; R3 is hydrocarbon of diisocyanate compound origin; R5 is H or CH3) (e.g. a compound of formula II) as the initiator, a lactone (e.g. epsilon- caprolactone) is brought to ring opening polymerization followed by reaction of a polyisocyanate compound (e.g. 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate) to obtain the objective resin with the both ends of the main molecular chain being OH groups or isocyanate groups. The compound of the formula I is a new material.
