Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a lightweight reel matching the height of a roll by placing a second disc on a first disc of an outside diameter D, forming a plurality of tongues in the second disc over the entire peripheral edge thereof in a range from a diameter smaller than the outside diameter D to the diameter of a semi-hub, and curving the tongues to form semi-hubs. CONSTITUTION: A second disc 3 is placed on a first disc 1 of a diameter D which is made of a corrugated board. A notch 4 is cut in the disc 3 over the entire peripheral edge thereof from the diameter D to the diameter (d) of a hub 6 to be formed, to thereby form tongues 5. Next, the disc 3 is bonded to the disc 1 in a range up to the diameter (d), and the tongues 5 are bent 90 deg. to form semi-hubs 6. Two of these assemblies are fitted over a roll from both sides and fixed in place to form a reel automatically adapted to the thickness of the roll.
