Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a rolling roll having the dull surface of high hardness by forming a thermal spraying layer by thermal-spraying a hard material on the surface of the roll base metal subjected to dull working and adjusting the surface roughness by the thickness of this thermal spraying layer. CONSTITUTION:A dull working is executed by projecting a, shot, grit, etc., on the roll base metal and the surface roughness of this time is made slightly higher than the aiming surface roughness taking into consideration the succeeding thermal spraying stage. A hard material is thermal-sprayed on this roll surface subjected to dull working. Due to the dull working being executed on the comparatively soft roll base metal, the dull working becomes easy. Even in case of there being some dispersions on the unevenness of the surface of the base metal by the dull working, they can be corrected by the thermal spraying layer. The adhesive force to the roll base metal of the thermal spraying layer becomes larger as well and the roll of excellent durability is obtd. The rolling roll having the dull surface of high hardness can thus be obtd. on the roll member of low hardness.
