Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the parallelism of illumination light which illuminates a main scale and a reference scale by constituting the reflection type optical displacement detector so that a light emitting element is arranged on a light receiving element side and the length of the optical path extending from the light emitting element to a reflecting mirror is made long. CONSTITUTION:A 1st member 18 where the main scale 16 is formed and a 2nd member 22 where the reference scale is formed are provided, and the light emitting element 24 and light receiving element 26 are arranged on the same side with those 1st and 2nd members. Further, the reflecting mirror 34 is arranged on the opposite side. The illumination light emitted by the light emitting element 24 reaches the reflecting mirror 28 through the 2nd member 22, 1st member 18, and a lens member 34 and is made into a parallel light beam, which returns to the light receiving element side. Consequently, the optical path from the light emitting element 24 to the reflecting mirror 28 is shorter than before and the focal length of the reflecting mirror 28 is made long to improve the parallelism of the illumination light which is transmitted through the main scale 16 and reference scale.
