Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to prepare a molding material having excellent flow characteristics and mold release characteristics, by using a fluorinated monofunctional phenol as a chain terminating agent in preparing an arom. polycarbonate resin consisting of a bisphenol compd. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a polycarbonate resin, a fluorinated monofunctional phenol is used as a chain terminating agent. As the above phenol, a compd. represented by formula I is preferable. In the formula I, R<1> is a 1-6C alkyl group, an aroma. hydrocarbon group or a halogen atom; l is an integer of 0-4; m is 0 or 1; R<2> is (CF2)nX, CH2(CF2)nX or CH2CH2(CF2)nX; n is an integer of 0-18; X is F when n is 0 and F or H when n is not zero. It is preferable that the phenol of formula I is used in an amount of 0.1-100mol.% based on the whole chain terminating agent to be used.
