Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a solid-state image pickup camera without any flicker caused by detecting a discharge frequency (f) of a lighting light and setting a storage time Ts of a solid-state image pickup element with electronic shutter function as Ts=1/2f. CONSTITUTION:Since an optical sensor 9 detects the discharge frequency (f) of the lighting light 1, when the signal is given to an F/V converter 10, a voltage proportional to the discharge frequency (f) is outputted. An undesired charge sweep-out pulse phase control circuit 11 uses an external control signal to vary the phase of a sweep-out pulse. Thus, in using the output voltage of the F/V converter 10 as a control signal to the phase control circuit 11, the phase of the sweep-out pulse is set to satisfy the relation of storage time Ts=1/2f. Thus, the production of flicker is suppressed.
