Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain accurate head positioning by moving and positioning a magnetic head in the radial direction of a disk based on servo information recorded on the disk so as to make a difference between a position error signal read from a servo signal and an objective position zero. CONSTITUTION:When a servo region detection circuit 22 detects a signal A representing the head of the servo area, a pulse is outputted to a signal 22a, a position error detection circuit 23 is triggered to output a pulse 23b of a prescribed width from the inside. The pulse 23b rises for a time till servo information 23c is obtained from the head A of the servo region, and after that a timing pulse 23d to apply A/D conversion to a reproducing signal 21b at a prescribed time interval is outputted. The result is fed to a controller 24 in a form of the signal 23a, the difference of the digital values of the signals 34a, 35a is calculated to decide each phase current of a stepping motor 25 thereby driving a motor 25. Thus, servo signals C, D, E, F are sampled synchronously with the signal 23d to decide the drive current of the motor 25 thereby correcting the head 20 at a position 15a.
