Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve an oxidation-resistant function as well as to make it possible to conduct a temperature measurement in various kinds of atmospheres, by method wherein a film layer having heat-resisting and oxidation-resistant properties is formed on the surface layer part of the body of an SiC whisker. CONSTITUTION:Homogeneous slurry is formed by mixing SiC whisker with an aqueous solution of a inorganic glue-dissolving agent, adjusted so that pH is 11-12, and by kneading and glue-dissolving the mixture, and it is cast into a gypsum mold together with a pair of electrodes 2. After the cast material has been integrally molded, it is heat-treated in an inert atmosphere by providing an inorganic binder on the surface layer part 3 of a molded body. The molded body 1 integrally formed with the electrodes 2 is obtained by the above- mentioned drying process. Then, an aqueous solution of an inorganic binder is applied to or sprayed on the surface of the molded body. Silica sol, water glass, alumina sol and the like can be used as the inorganic binder.
