Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance photosensitivity to light in the long wavelength region by alternately laminating >=3 groups of thin layers each different from its adjacent layer in the optical forbidden band width by a specified range in the band widths to form a surface layer. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic sensitive body is obtained by successively laminating on the outer circumference of a cylindrical support S having a conductive surface, a barrier layer 1 made of a nonmonocrystalline semiconductor composed essentially of Si or Ge, a photoconductive layer 2, and the surface layer 3 having the laminate multilayers composed of >=3 groups of thin layers different from its adjacent layer in the optical forbidden band widths by 0.01eV-0.2eV, thus permitting photosensitivity to the long wavelength lights to be enhanced without inducing wide increase of the bond level in the interface between each pair of the adjacent thin layers different in the optical forbidden band widths.
