Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconductor having a higher critical temp. and maintaining the high temp. phase in a metastable state by rapidly cooling an oxide superconductor from a specified temp. and subjecting it to oxidation treatment with plasma at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:An oxide superconductor is rapidly cooled from >=900 deg.C and subjected to oxidation treatment with plasma at <=200 deg.C. The rapid cooling must be carried out at >=1,000 deg.C/min cooling rate. An oxide superconductor contg. a rare earth element and having an oxygen-deficient perovskite structure may be used as the oxide superconductor.
