Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a compsn. which is large in the change latitude of resistance with humidity and has good water resistance in a high humidity range by compounding specific metal ions and conductive particles with polyethylene oxide. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. used for a humidity sensor and dew condensation sensor is obtd. by compounding 25-5wt.% conductive particles with 75-95wt.% crystalline complex consisting of the polyethylene oxide and the alkali metal salt or alkaline earth metal salt. The mol.wt. of the polyethylene oxide is not particularly limited. The alkali metal salt or alkaline earth metal salt used for forming the crystalline complex is exemplified by, for example, alkali metal salts such as sodium iodide and potassium iodide and alkaline earth metal salts such as magnesium chloride and calcium chloride. The increase rate of the resistance value in the specific humidity region of the resultant compsn. decreases if the compounding ratio of the conductive particles exceeds 25wt.%. The initial resistance value conversely increases too much and is undesirable if the ratio is below 5wt.%.
