Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the inexpensive, miniaturized sensor with superior heat resistance by forming a capacitor element of a projection/recess part formed on the surface of a rotary disk coupled with a crank shaft and a pickup arranged nearby it. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 11a are formed radially at unite angle intervals on the surface of the rotary disk 1 made of a conductive material to form projections and recesses in the circumferential direction. Here, when the rotary disk 11 rotates as the crank shaft rotates, its gap to the tip part 12a of the pickup 12 varies. The electrostatic capacity of a capacitor element 16 varies periodically according to the rotation of the rotary disk 11. Then when the electrostatic capacity varies, the element 16 is charged or discharged and the terminal voltage across a resistance R6 connected thereto varies periodically and outputted as a crank angle signal from an output terminal 18. This pulse signal is counted to detect the angle of rotation of the crank shaft.
