Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent large energy from accumulation in a discharge gap, when a discharge is interrupted, by conducting a current in the first and second energy consuming circuits after a switch means, which supplies voltage of a DC power supply to the discharge gap, is turned off. CONSTITUTION:When supply of discharge voltage is stopped by turning off a transistor 3, a transistor 4 starts discharging capacitance C4 between a gate and a source through a resistor 10, being soon turned on, and consuming energy, accumulated in a discharge circuit, by heat energy by a current I2, a surge is prevented. While when an input pulse is turned off, a transistor 13 is conducted through a buffer 14, photocoupler 15, buffer 17 and a resistor 18 when energy of lead wire inductance Lo and stray and between-discharge gap capacitances Co, CG is applied between source and drain by the time constant of a capacitor C13 and the resistor 18, consuming the energy by Joule heat by a current I3. Thus preventing the energy from accumulating in the discharge gap at the time of interrupting the discharge, a cutting chip can be easily discharged.
