Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce an L-amino acid in high efficiency, without by-producing N-carbamoylamino acid, by a single-stage reaction comprising the cultivation of Pseudomonas NS 671 strain in a medium containing a 5-substituted hydantoin. CONSTITUTION:An L-amino acid is produced by culturing Pseudomonas sp NS 671 (FERM P-9543) in a medium containing hydantoin at high concentration at pH6-8 and 25-40 deg.C under aerobic condition for 15-72hr. The strain is a Gram-negative bacillus having locomotivity, positive to catalase, negative to oxidase, free from acid fastness, free from sporulation, having aerobic nature, non-fermentative in OF test and negative to VP reaction and arginine decomposition activity, etc.
