Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase a memory capacity and to enable the prevention of deformation of a substrate, the mass production of an optical card and the reduction of the cost thereof by pressing mold materials formed with guide grooves for light beam tracking and information patterns for specifying bits to both faces of the optical card substrate. CONSTITUTION:The guide grooves and preformats are pressed onto the optical card substrate 12 from both faces by stampers 11a, 11b and, therefore, distortion are decreased and the warpage deformation of the substrate 12 is eliminated as compared to the case of pressing the same from one side. The off-tracking of the light beam fore recording and reproducing stopped down to micron order is thereby prevented and focusing errors are decreased. Since the card patterns are simultaneously formed on both faces of the substrate, the recording capacity is increased and the mass production is enabled; in addition, the cost of the card is reduced.
