Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the surface smoothness of an electrodeposit, by adding a polyalkylene glycol compound having an MW in a specified range to a cationic electrodeposition paint. CONSTITUTION:A cationic electrodeposition paint containing 0.25-7pts.wt., per 100pts.wt. resin solid, polyalkylene glycol compound of an MW of 1,500-6,000 is applied. Examples of said polyalkylene glycol compound include polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol. It is desirable to use a polypropylene glycol compound because it can exhibit excellent emulsion stability because of its good HLB.
