Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of the positioning between rod lenses and to reduce optical coupling loss by arranging both switching units so that plane microlenses face each other. CONSTITUTION:This switch consists of a couple of switching units A' and B' which rotate opposite each other and those switching units A' and B' consist of the plane microlenses 6a and 6b fixed mutually with, for example, ultraviolet- ray setting resin materials 5a and 5b and fiber holders 7a and 7b. The plane microlenses 6a and 6b are formed of, for example, glass-made substrates termed TiF6 and plural semispherical distributed index lenses 8a and 8b are formed integrally therein. Consequently, the positioning accuracy is improved and the optical coupling loss between the plane microlenses 6a and 6b of both switching units A' and B' becomes relatively small.
