Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resistance to nodular corrosion by depositing an anodized film on the outside surface of a nuclear fuel cladding pipe by using an electrolyte contg. Fe, Cr, Ni, etc., which are the alloy component of zircalloy. CONSTITUTION:The nuclear fuel cladding pipe 1 consisting of a zirconium-base alloy is immersed in the electrolyte contg. Fe, Cr, and Ni and the oxide film is formed on the outside surface of the cladding pipe 1 by AC current. The cladding pipe 1 constituted in such a manner is formed in, for example, the following manner: 30V AC voltage of 50Hz is impressed for 10min by using a platinum plate to the cladding pipe 1 made of the zirconium alloy as a counter electrode in the electrolyte prepd. by dissolving Fe(OH)2, Ni(OH)32, and Cr(OH)3 respectively at 0.1ml in a 50% NHO3 soln. to form the anodized film 5 thereon to about 1mum. The Fe, Cr and Ni which are the alloy components of the zircalloy are thereby deposited on the outside surface of the cladding pipe 1 at the time of the negative voltage in the AC voltage and the oxidation is induced at the time of the positive voltage, by which ZrO2 is formed. Further, the Fe, Cr, Ni, etc., deposited on the outside surface of the cladding pipe 1 are uniformly taken into the oxide film and, therefore, the resistance to the nodular corrosion is improved.
