Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency without causing any oxidation or ignition while being treated in the air by implementing a surface treatment on Nd-Fe-B alloy fine powder using a coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:An Nd-Fe-B alloy, which is represented by a composition formula Nd13Dy2Fe67Co10B8, is granulated. When implementing a surface treatment of the obtained alloy powder using silane coupling agent powder, the ignition temperature thereof increases while the variation decreases. The coupling agent is removed while being evacuated after forming by compression the fine powder whose surface has been treated by the coupling agent. The fine powder is then baked at a pressure of 10 torr in Ar and an aging treatment is followed in an Ar atmosphere.
