Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a porcelain enamel pipe having high roundness, by applying glazing to a metallic pipe by a migration electrodeposition method while rotating the metallic pipe in slip in a peripheral direction and then subjecting the above pipe to baking. CONSTITUTION:One end of a metallic pipe 5 is held by means of a chuck 7 of a turning gear 6 for this pipe 5 and this pipe 5 is dipped into slip S in a dipping tank 1, and then, a rotary driver 8 is actuated to rotate the above pipe 5 in this peripheral direction and also an agitator 2 is rotated to agitate the slip S. Subsequently, a D.C. voltage is impressed between the pipe 5 and a counter electrode 4 and glass grains are allowed to adhere uniformly to the pipe 5 surface by means of migration electrodeposition to glaze the surface, and then, the pipe 5 is pulled up from the tank 1, dried, and baked. By this method, the thickness of an enamel layer formed on the outside peripheral surface of the pipe 5 is uniformized, by which the pipe having superior roundness can be manufactured.
