Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize the ultrasonic operating part of an ultrasonic endoscope performing scanning while rotating an ultrasonic transducer, by making the transmission timing of the ultrasonic transducer synchronous to the rotation of a motor by a phase comparing means. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic transducer 41 is rotationally driven by a motor 46 through a flexible shaft 42 and the rotary position of the motor 46 is detected by a photoreflector 51 and the output thereof is inputted to a phase comparator 56. This phase comparator 56 compares the phase of the output signal of the photoreflector 51 with the phase of the transmission timing of the ultrasonic transducer 41 from a transmission timing generating circuit 53. The output of the phase comparator 56 is fed back to the motor 46 through a low-pass filter 57 and an amplifier 58 and, by this method, the rotation of the motor 56 is made synchronous to the transmission timing of the ultrasonic transducer 41.
