Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the output of a laser and to increase the life of a metal vapor source by providing a stationary section having a higher melting point than the operating temperature of a metallic vapor laser device, providing a plurality of holes in the stationary section, and filling the source in the holes. CONSTITUTION:A buffer gas supply port 4 communicating with a discharge tube 1, an outlet 5, and a pair of electrodes 6, 7 are disposed in the discharge tube between a Brewster window 2 and a vacuum adiabatic chamber 3. The port 4 communicates with the outlet 5, and buffer gas 16 flows in a direction of an arrow. A ringlike stationary section 8 is mounted inside the chamber 3. The section 8 is made of porous high-melting-point metal having higher melting point than the operating temperature of a metal vapor laser device, such as Mo, W or the like, and the porous metal is formed of sintered metal. A plurality of holes 9 are formed in the section 8, and a metal vapor source 10, such as Cu is filled in the holes 9. Accordingly, it can prevent spherical melted metal vapor source 10 from protruding to a laser passage 17 during operation.
