Abstract

PURPOSE:To dry powdery and granular materials uniformly and quickly by heating the powdery and granular materials from inside the powdery and granular materials by microwaves and carrying out mixing without stirring while cooled air is supplied. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical drying tank 1 equipped with a material inlet 16 and a material outlet 18 and a microwave device 2 to radiate microwaves to powdery and granular materials flowing in said drying tank 1 are provided, and cool air of the temperature lower than the surface temperature of the powdery and granular materials heated up by the microwaves are supplied. As a cooled air feeding device 4 to lower the surface temperature of powdery and granular materials is provided, and first mixing elements 13 and second mixing elements 14 having respectively a spiral blade 15 torsioned in the reverse direction are disposed alternately in a microwave radiation area in the drying tank 1, drying can be accelerated by heating up the powdery and granular materials from inside by means of microwaves, while the powdery and granular materials are stirred uniformly in the drying tank 1.
