Abstract

PURPOSE: To exhibit a required refrigerating capacity even at the time of engine stop or traffic jam by introducing refrigerant from a compressor to a cold accumulation agent cooling circuit when a freezing vehicle is cooled through an evaporator down to a specified temperature and conducting cold accumulation agent cooling. CONSTITUTION: When a freezing vehicle is cooled down to a specified temperature through operation of an engine driven refrigeration cycle 16, solenoid valves 12, 19 are changed over to introduce refrigerant from an engine driven compressor 10 through a condenser 11 to a cold accumulation agent cooling circuit 18 thence through an expansion valve 20 to a cold storage plate heat exchanger 21 as shown by a dashed line. Cold storage agent filling a cold storage plate 22 is thereby cooled and the temperature risen refrigerant is circulated through an accumulator 15 back to the compressor 10. The cold storage plate 22 cools the freezing vehicle through natural cold discharge and the freezing vehicle is previously filled with a cold storage agent sufficient for 2 hour cold holding.
