Abstract
PURPOSE: To insulate a building from its foundation and to prevent earthquake energy from being transferred to the building by exciting electromagnets arranged on the opposing surfaces of the building and the foundation and levitating the building above the foundation. CONSTITUTION: Electromagnets 3 and 4 are each mounted to the opposing surfaces of a foundation 1 and a building 2 to be arranged on the foundation 1. Then, by exciting the electromagnets 3 and 4 at the time of earthquakes, the building 2 is levitated above the foundation 1. By this, as the building 2 is insulated from the foundation 1, earthquake energy is not transferred to the building 2.
