Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit inexpensive production of the title compound, by adding an organochlorosilane to an aqueous alkali for hydrolysis, as the pH of the reaction mixture is kept so that the polymerization may not take place, then pouring acid in portions for neutralization to effect polymerization and precipitation so that the content of organic groups are controlled. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous alkali such as aqueous sodium hydroxide is kept at 60-65 deg.C and added to an organochlorosiloxane such as methyl trichlorosilane, etc., as the pH is kept over 10 so that polymerization may not take place, to effect hydrolysis. Then, an acid such as sulfuric acid is added in portions to the reaction mixture to effect neutralization so that the organosilicic acid is polymerized and precipitated whereby the subject fine particles of organosilicic acid is obtained. The amount of the aqueous alkali is preferably more than the equivalent one for neutralizing the hydrogen chloride generated by hydrolysis.
